The Last War: An extract from Chapter 5
Veerabhadra fired multiple Agni Astras (Arrows with fire at their head) towards Charulata. Charulata invoked the Jala Astras (Arrows that showered water from their heads) and immediately doused the fire. Veerabhadra then fired an arrow that multiplied into several hundred arrows. Charulata replied with a volley of continuous arrows double the numbers fired by Veerabhadra. As her arrows destroyed Veerabhadra’s arrows, the remaining pierced the ground surrounding Veerabhadra in a circle in minute precision. Then Charulata released an arrow that removed Veerabhadra’s metal head gear. Before he could retaliate, the next arrow broke his bow, and the very next arrow broke the sword that he had just taken out of the sheath. Finally, an arrow fell right on his feet as a mark of respect. Charulata bowed down to thank him. Veerabhadra had been her Guru (teacher) in teaching advanced techniques on invoking Deivi Astras and Charulata expressed her gratitude. Veerabhadra was glad that Charulata was a good student and learnt the art in a very short span of time, despite her ongoing recovery from the wounds.
“You are now ready,” said Veerabhadra. He looked at Charulata with a deep sense of satisfaction.
